Abstract

This study explores school culture and the principal's leadership for a school's sustained development in the information age. The case study describes how the principal creates a positive school culture for Xing-ya. The principal has utilized the following strategies to cultivate a positive school culture: (1) playing a lead role in instruction; (2) employing the right people do the right things; (3) taking projects to obtain additional resources; (4) adopting the 20/80 principle to conduct a change; (5) sharing the school's vision; (6) encouraging teachers to develop their potential abilities and give fully support; (7) emphasizing staff development; and (8) encouraging team work with insider and outsider. The school culture explored in this case includes: (1) providing opportunities for students to show their performance; (2) cooperation each other among teachers; (3) task-oriented; (4) professional dialogue and sharing experiences; (5) performance-based value of contribution; and (6) team work and supportive system. Some implications are also proposed.
