Abstract

The current pandemic has compelled higher education institutions to undergo a rapid and unprecedented shift to online learning. This exigent pedagogical transformation requires simple, prescriptive information to help educators transform traditional synchronous learning into new forms that support asynchronous learner agency. Learner agency embodies andragogical principles and adult learning theory where students are empowered and expected to have a more active role in their learning. One approach is to use micro lessons. Prescriptive guidance and design strategies for micro-lessons using a free online learning platform are provided.
