Abstract

In just a few decades the survival rate from organ transplantation has grown to a 90% one-year success rate. Despite this success, approximately 50-75% of all recipients will have at least one episode of infection during the first year posttransplant, often with potentially lethal consequences. The goals of our web course and e-conference room are to address the critical issues surrounding organ transplantation recovery, and to offer an international online forum where clinicians may receive critical advice from experts and learn from one another. Freely available, the web course is divided into three major learning sections of incomparable depth of knowledge and expertise and an e-Conference room. In this paper, we will highlight the unique features of the web course, and feature the e-Conference room concept and design. This innovative forum allows its members to receive time-sensitive, critical advise and provides them the opportunity to publish their most illustrative cases.
