Abstract

The present paper discusses the testing of a socio-pedagogical model for the integration of ICT in youth and adult education in Mexico. It presents the relevance of the model in terms of policies, both national and those of the international agencies, to include ICT in education. The paper describes the testing of the model in the case of Tepetitla, a community in central Mexico. A brief description of its theoretical bases and of some procedures is included. Results of the pilot test are discussed in terms of learning outcomes and learners' motivation, as well as perceptions of the educational advisers or tutors (i.e., teachers). Some implications at local and international levels are presented with regards to the role of ICT in education, and of the general approach that is recommended for the integration of ICT in this field. The view of the individual and collective person as the main focus for educational processes is emphasized.
