Abstract

Given the serious weakness of so much research in the field; the purpose of this panel is to exhibit and discuss best practices in the five types of research most appropriately applicable to educational media improvement. The types chosen are: Qualitative Case Studies, Meta-Analyses, System-modelling and Simulation-running, and Controled Experiments. An expert in each area will present strengths and weaknesses of each methodology with examples. After each speaker some audience participation will be encouraged. At the end there will be open discussion with the audience and panelists. We will draw on the Educational Technology professors of Concordia University and other Major Montreal Universities. The panel will be chaired by Professor Gary Boyd of Concordia University.
