Abstract

Due to the rapid change in information technology, integrating IT into teaching has become an effective method for achieving innovation in teaching. Many countries are urging teachers to use technology in their classrooms, and Taiwan is no exception. The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan, R.O.C. proposed a change project for training school teams to become "Seeds of IT schools". Based on two-years of participation and observations of teachers' integrating IT into teaching and learning at various schools in Taiwan, it was found necessary to reflect upon the observations from the project entitled: "Seed Schools of Information Technology in Northern Taiwan (SSIT-North in short). This study reflects upon the earlier observed phenomenon. The dimensions discussed in this study include theoretical bases, teacher professional development, and the application of IT to educational settings.
