Abstract

The expectation for colleges and universities to provide state-of-the-art education integrated with the latest technologies is continuously increasing. Parents and students are seeking not a sufficient, but rather an extraordinary return-on-investment. While the incoming first-year students already experienced and utilized learning technology in their secondary education, higher education environments range from traditional to hybrid settings, primarily the former. The implementation of learning technologies has started, but a true integration has not yet taken place. What kinds of measures are necessary to close the gap and change the higher education landscape? This paper will focus on key solutions such as strategy development, infrastructure improvements, changes in faculty and organizational development to generate a successful and sustainable integration of learning technologies into higher education.
