Abstract

Given the growing complexity of clients, often the expectation of students is to research their patient assignment prior to providing care. The purpose of this paper is to introduce PREP: a mnemonic to help instructors ensure that the preparation assignments are rigorous and learner-centered. The PREP mnemonic will assist nursing educators to clarify the purpose of student preparation, set realistic expectations, evaluate objectively, and encourage application to practice in the clinical area.
