Abstract

The TELUS Learning Connection provincial education/industry alliance of Alberta Learning, University of Alberta Faculty of Education, Alberta Teachers' Association, College of Alberta School Superintendents, and TELUS Corporation has since 1997 shifted the face of educator IT diffusion/integration professional development in Alberta, Canada. Addressing diverse teaching challenges of 30,000 K-12 teachers, preservice teachers and administrators, the TELUS Learning Connection provides face-to-face and online just-in-time support and opportunities for teachers engaging students in classroom-based technology-infused curricular activities-empowering teachers, preservice teachers and administrators to learn, inspire and build together in an international online community of sharing. Teachers focus on their curricular expertise as they successfully and transparently infuse technology into classroom practice. This paper details how to replicate this innovative and successful professional development model.
