Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of the availability of PowerPoint presentations from individual computers in a lab setting upon students' metacognitive interaction with lecture material and their affective motivation to attend to lecture material. PowerPoint can be a useful tool to address the students learning styles during a lecture session. Students will be placed in a classroom with a multimedia station or in a computer lab. In the computer lab, students will have access to the PowerPoint as the teacher proceeds through the lecture. Both classrooms will be observed to determine ways the students interact with the PowerPoint presentation. A Grasha-Riechmann Student Learning Style Scale and survey will be given to the students to determine the learning style and how the students perceive their interaction with the PowerPoint. Data from the learning scale and survey will be analyzed through a Block ANOVE. Results will be available at the time of presentation.
