Abstract

The goals of the needs assessment and evaluation of the NETS DVL are to maximize usability and utility by means of formative user-centered evaluation, and to understand how user-centered evaluation techniques, usability testing, and web-based resource evaluation methods can be applied to digital libraries. The NETS DVL combines the characteristics of digital libraries, content-based retrieval systems, and database technologies to support the national effort to improve teacher education programs and prepare teachers to infuse technology across the curriculum. This evaluative study investigated teacher educators' needs and perceptions about digital libraries as instructional resources.
