Abstract

Abstract: In order to make the examination system more flexible and learner centric, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has designed and developed a robust, secure, reliable, and adaptive system of examination which allows learners to appear in the examination on theirdemand and preparations. The On Demand-Examination, is operational in several courses through different Regional Centres of IGNOU on every Friday. The present paper reports the findings of a research study on students’ perception of this new scheme of examination. It also highlights the need and importance of the OD-Examination in Open and DistanceLearning (ODL) system, describes the features and potentials of this innovative scheme, as well as the expectations of the students. The difficulties and problems faced by the students taking the On Demand-Examinaton are also discussed in the paper.
