
The Ethical Issues in Technology Lecture Series: Student Perspectives on a Strategy for Online Collaborative Learning in an Educational Technology Course

Abstract
Technological advances offer great promise great for both teachers and learners, but there are numerous challenges to the implementation of technology in classroom settings. An online course was designed to assist educators in developing an understanding, appreciation, and vision of the roles and impacts of technology on the elementary curriculum. Students enrolled in this course are expected to: (1) begin to develop expertise in planning and implementing informed, interdisciplinary practices of teaching with technology based on models, theories, and research; (2) construct habits of inquiry and reflection as lifelong learners and teachers; (3) build bridges of understanding among individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, learning abilities and special needs. This article describes a long-term collaborative project embedded in an online educational technology course and presents students' perspectives and evaluations of the activity.
