Abstract

The pervasiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in the consumer realm makes it a considerable topic of research for many scholars. While most modern AI systems are more robust and complex, containing a level of sophistication that could only be dreamed of just a few short years ago, they are lacking truly human levels of sophistication until the power of commonsense is harnessed. This paper argues the importance of commonsense as related to AI, identifies the application of commonsense in AI systems and looks at its role in educational technologies.
