
Online Learning and Student Success: New Findings from Learning Analytics

Abstract
The research reported in this presentation engages recent research on the success of undergraduate students who take online classes and explores similar comparisons using 656,258 student records collected through the Predictive Analytics Reporting (PAR) Framework. It found, contrary to what has been widely reported in the media, that taking online courses does not necessarily negatively impact student success. Indeed, the results suggest that students taking some courses online and some onground progress more quickly and are retained at a slightly higher rate than students taking solely onground or solely onground courses.
