High-Impact Learning Strategies in Mathematics Education

Abstract
In the study of mathematics, it is important to note that students learn in various ways. Some students learn best when working together while other students prefer to work alone. No matter what, as instructors, we must be cognizant of the students that we are teaching. We must find every possible way to be effective in our mathematics instruction. Some instructors lecture their students and they do not give their students a chance to display their learning outside of homework and course exams. In this presentation, I will describe various high-impact learning strategies from Marzano (2001) that will assist instructors in teaching mathematics in ways that will help students to learn and retain information for future use.
