Abstract

Strategies for effective educational technology professional development for secondary English language arts teachers are explored in an inquiry study that focuses on creating a professional learning community around using technology to support curricular goals and student learning needs. Creating a learning community as a central focus of the face-to-face professional development workshop served to support teachers in exchanging ideas and strategies for classroom planning. Their positive attitudes regarding technology integration developed within the learning community and led to design of new learning activities for their individual classrooms in response to student learning needs and curricular goals.
