Abstract

As technology becomes more and more integrated into our daily lives, and standardized assessment moves to a computer-based testing platform, it is not only important to identify the possible effects of changing how student achievement is assessed, but to also examine how technology competency levels of teachers may also have an effect. With the implementation of the Common Core standards, and a focus on having standards that are “robust and relevant to the real world” and “reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers”…it is important to…question how student achievement should be assessed and to provide as much professional development and technology support to teachers as needed. In this paper, the researcher investigates teachers’ perspectives on using technology to assess student achievement, preparing students for online testing, and how administrators can support teachers in changing to a computer-based assessment platform.
