Abstract

The aim of this study is to conduct exploratory analyses to investigate the potential of language learning integrating a MOOC. Massive Open Online Courses, MOOCs, are an epoch-making invention in this century. The idea of MOOCs is based on Open Education, which is an ideology to enhance opportunities for learning. However, there are some studies which report that the use of MOOCs has peaked, and that their influence is decreasing. In spite of these reports, it cannot be denied that MOOCs have opened up a new door for participatory learning for global learners. Since MOOCs use English as the major language for instruction, MOOCs have the potential to become good educational material for English language learners. This study investigates the possible effects of EFL instruction integrating a MOOC in terms of Perception of Openness, EFL Self-efficacy, and Willingness to Communicate.
