Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of various digital fabrication design technologies that have potential to enrich interdisciplinary connections. Among these are two-dimensional digital fabrication tools that cut thin materials and three-dimensional digital fabrication tools that print objects out of heated plastic. These tools range in cost and complexity; however, each category provides unique affordances and opportunities for creative expression that is linked to interdisciplinary content learning.
