Abstract

The Indigenous Perspective Society is a not-for-profit organization that strengthens the voice of Indigenous communities through education. Currently, the Society is moving its training program to a blended learning model. The new model will link with stakeholder standards while introducing new assessment practices. Society educators, in assessing themselves, undertook a shared self-study in which they examined their relationships to core indigenous pedagogies and practice. The process included building Mahara ePortfolios as a “walk the talk” endeavor. We approached the study as “self in relation to” our professional practices. We explored, built and shared digital representations that spoke to both “looking in” to build awareness of our current practices, and “looking to” to imagine new ways of knowing for future teaching/assessment practices. The study strengthened our community and spirit. This showcase session will map our process through narratives and ePortfolio displays.
