Abstract

This paper will focus and explain the evaluation process of the Nature Tour mobile application on a Finnish basic education setting. The idea of the mobile application is to help recording and comparing nature observations and arouse children's interest of nature. The feasibility and learning experiences were evaluated through a framework which includes the core characteristics of mobile learning. The data were collected with teacher and student surveys. The results of the study showed that the pedagogical practices have a strong influence on the mobile learning activity, mobile learning process, as well as mobile learning experience. The clear pedagogical goal made the mobile learning activity more organized and helped the teacher to guide the students to observe nature more goal oriented. The students were motivated, engaged and were concentrating on the task.
