Abstract

This paper is an overview of essential factors necessary when developing a professional portfolio, teaching portfolio, or student portfolio. The portfolio has emerged as one of the more effective technology integrated performance and assessment tools in all of education. Although not a new concept, new methods, new software application, and new uses are being developed around the traditional portfolio. Much of what is being developed relies on a solid planning foundation (Burgess and Holmes, 2000). This session examines the various steps in planning for a digital or electronic portfolio.
