Abstract

The process of learning native language is a fruit of cognitive psychology. The authors thought that if we could learn a foreign language in the same process as we learn our native language, we would be able to learn words and expressions with relative ease. On the other hand, it is also reported that the things a person personally experienced will be memorized more easily and remain longer than the things he just saw or heard. In this paper, based on these two findings in cognitive psychology the authors propose to learn foreign language according to the process people learn their native language and discuss the possibility of learning language through experience by connecting language with people fs spatial recognition. The authors created a multimedia learning tool which produce a 3D virtual space so that learners can experience realistic space and learn Chinese intuitively.
