Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate how to construct and apply a web-based Network Studio (will be abbreviated as WNS afterwards) to train tomorrow's Science teachers to conduct the theme-based inquiry teaching and learning in elementary schools. The authors work with three elementary school teachers and three graduate students who are prepared to be tomorrow's elementary school science teachers after they graduate in the future. The collaborative action research method is applied to enhance the communication and efficiency of the research. The research team members identify the essential components and steps for conducting a successful theme-based inquiry. We then design and develop the scaffolding support elements and software tools on the WNS to assist tomorrow's elementary school Science teachers learn how to combine classroom and outdoors teaching and how to guide their students' theme based inquiry step by step.
