This paper describes an instructional design strategy to help teachers create learning activities that make effective use of social media. In order to create effective instruction, the designer should have a clear understanding of the intended outcome. Next, the designer should be able to identify the epistemic discourse they want to use in order to effectively match the most appropriate social media with the intended learning outcome. Using social media can create a rich learning environment that crosses all content areas.
