An accelerated growth in the use of information and communications technologies is occurring in all aspects of learning and teaching in higher education. Yet such a practice is not commonly found in Mexican universities. During the last ten years, Universidad Iberoamericana has supported, through an academic network, a number of initiatives towards the application of these technologies for learning improvement. However, most of the projects reside at a departmental level, precluding their integration and spread at the University. This paper presents the design of the Learning Technologies Laboratory, a novel initiative in the context of Mexican higher education, for enabling such integration and further development. Upon the design and implementation of the laboratory, a number of projects have been successfully implemented.
