Abstract

This study produced a band director's resource to choose music that is appropriate for the abilities of members of a band. The main component is a computer database for the band works included in the study, into which the difficulty level of the various parts will be entered. Before using this data, a band director must assess the ability of each section in a band, then search the database for works that are playable by that group with regard for its specific mixture of abilities.
