Abstract

More opportunities to share in a supportive climate are critical for teachers and faculty expected to be advocates for the advancement of technology in education. Teachers in schools and universities are wise to the usual models of change pressures—the heavy hammer of raw threat, the clever talking expert from out of town, the spy trying to weed out the laggards, and, less frequently, the considerate facilitator of change. Even in Taiwan, with its international reputation for advancing technology, there is a crying need for better quality faculty development and enlightened leadership theory. The writers?research in Taiwan showed that educators want considerate leadership style, strongly focused on showing empathy for employees, and a climate for experimentation, a focus on sustaining growth in content and professional knowledge, and observable results for the benefit of both teachers and students.
