Abstract

With the advent of the personal computer and the Internet, information has become digitally-based and widely available. Educators can benefit from these communication advances and use computer technology to develop a new generation of teaching tools for students. The goal of this thesis is to develop geotechnical education tools compiled on a CD-ROM. For instance, simple, yet realistic examples of stress distribution, 1-dimensional settlement, and 1-dimensional consolidation are incorporated into the CD. The animations are intended to demonstrate, through visuals, the theories behind basic geotechnical engineering concepts.
