Abstract

This dissertation examines the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for education in rural Nepal. Specifically, I investigate how organizations that work in rural education plan and implement programs that use ICT and how they are in understanding and working towards community development goals. The research utilizes a mixed-methods design, combining interviews with individuals in development organizations and a questionnaire that measures community attitudes to and opinions on ICT in education. Results contribute to a better understanding of educational change and innovation in Nepal, the use of ICT in rural education, and larger discussions on ICT and the future of development.
