Your Digital Impact: Online Professional Development Strategies for the Timestarved TALK
Sidneyeve Matrix, Queen's University, Canada
One of the new roles for instructors, administrators, staff and learners involves creatively managing our online reputations. This presentation is for attendees who feel timestarved and sometimes on the wrong side of the tech skills gap when it comes to developing a professional digital footprint. It will review emerging trends in online professional development for academics and focus on inspiring and actionable ideas for designing personal learning networks and developing thought leadership online. From personal SEO best practices to the social dissemination of research, from e-portfolios to online publishing, from Facebooking and Tweeting to Pinning, we'll consider how to quickly improve your digital discoverability and build relevant professional connections. By actively managing our digital selves not only do we “look better online,” but we are also better positioned to mentor next generation learners about their online presence.
