Abstract
Through a combination of innovation and necessity, a rural school district has created a successful program to connect teachers and learners throughout the district. This collaborative learning environment provides students with a daily, virtual connection with two other classes located in communities across the school district. Each classroom is outfitted with the latest technology to enable this learning environment.
Technology is used in a variety of ways to transform student learning and facilitate teacher collaboration across the school district and between communities. The rich learning environment does encourage peer interaction and these peer relationships are deepened through three face to face meetings each year.
The combination of daily professional development, collaborative opportunities for both students and teachers, and the variety of ways that technology is embedded makes this a unique, innovative and engaging learning environment.
