Abstract

Abstract: Formal online education is essentially a self-sufficient learning. As online students often do not have effective learning and self-management skills, e-learning needs to be supported by some instructional tools providing knowledge construction and skill development. These tools are discussed here. One of the most efficient knowledge constructions tool is threaded discussion. It is compared to other web-based communication tools, and its benefits are demonstrated together with detailed explication of instructional methodology.
