Abstract

Based on the GIGA School Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), a personal computer (PC) was provided to each student at all elementary and junior high schools in Japan. High-speed, high-capacity communication networks were installed at the schools. The MEXT provides guidance on the effective use of PCs on its StuDX Style website. Instructors at elementary and junior high schools use it as a reference and give classes in which students use the PCs. These PCs should be used not only for learning school subjects, but also for other educational activities. Studies of this issue, however, have remained limited to date. This study therefore has prepared a plan for activities using information and communications technologies (ICT) in junior high school student councils.
