Abstract

English courses have been teaching at elementary schools in Taiwan for years. However, the lack of professional development affects effectiveness of teaching and students’ learning. The four-year project aims to provide a 4C global model to extend supports for pre-/in-service English teachers’ facilitation and professional growth, and improve students’ English proficiency. With synchronous communicative technologies, the availability of ongoing collaboration, communication, and interaction cross countries will be expected to conquer limitation of time and geography to bring in-/pre-service teachers into a global teaching and learning community. The qualitative study involving semi-structured interview, observation, and journey is designed to collect data regarding a further understanding of teachers’ PD and students’ learning experiences. Sociocultural theory will support the PD design and data analysis. The findings are to promote a global PD model and online English learning.
