Abstract

This presentation introduces the CoSpace educational robotics, a new educational digital media that enable users to try out programs and strategies with both virtual and real objects. CoSpace educational robotics program has been created to integrate digital game-based learning with educational robotics, both are popular amongst young generation, to attract different population of students into the STEM field. With RoboCupJunior 2011 competition held from July 6th to 10th in Istanbul, the CoSpace platform was used for its demonstration leagues – CoSpace Dance and CoSpace Rescue, with 14 teams participated. The findings from the survey conducted during the competition with the participating students as well as their mentors will be shared during the presentation. In addition, a hands-on experience on how to use CoSpace educational robotics program in both virtual and real world environment will be presented, which will hopefully provide enough information for the participants to start thinking about what their students can do with the new technology.
