Abstract

In Washington State, there are 22 higher education institutions offering teacher education programs. At some level, these institutions compete for students and will always continue to do so. However, in 2009, due to unprecedented state budget cuts, some Washington higher education institutions began to pursue new levels of strategic partnerships and inter-institutional collaboration in order to pool resources and minimize the effects of the budget losses. Our institution, Central Washington University, took the initiative in organizing one such collaboration among educational technology faculty and support professionals across institutions. This presentation will provide an overview of the first meeting, the survey evaluation data, and the steps taken after the initial meeting to expand and grow our new group. Attendees at this presentation will also have the opportunity to view our new website and learn successful strategies in forming and organizing similar groups.
