This paper presents detailed evaluation results of an e-course on Technical English developed and implemented at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), since 2005. This e-course supplemented the corresponding University curriculum course by replacing the term written assignment. An on-line evaluation questionnaire addressed to students investigates both the usability of the e-learning system and the content of the e-course. Data concerning students’ grades in written exams for the three pre e-course years along with those of the four post e-course years were also taken into account, in a longitudinal evaluation approach. The results of the evaluation process concerned students’ participation in the e-course, students’ opinion about the system usability, the content quality of the e-course and the usefulness of knowledge gained from it. The impact of the e-course on students’ performance in written exams and the influence of students’ IT literacy on their performance in the e-course were also investigated.
