Abstract

This paper presents the MVP (Musical pitch Visualization Perception) support system for smart-glass. Practical use of ICT for education has been developed, however, its utilization for musical education and activity is not extensive. Here we report the use of a smart-glass tuner system for musical instruments. In this study, we developed a tuner application utilizing smart-glasses as a pitch feedback monitor system for wind instrument players. In our experiment, we compared the performance of the smart-glass feedback system with a conventional tuner available on the market. The study used “Glass Enterprise edition 2” provided by Google and the Javascript machine learning library “ml5.js” to feed back tonal pitch information in real time. The smart-glass system received high marks in usability and self performance evaluations, suggesting the effectiveness of the system on musical performance. Our system may represent a significant advancement in the development of ICT utilization in musical performance.
