Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has experienced major progress in recent years and represents an emerging technology which can be of important in the education sector and in the health industry. This technology has already been introduced in the field of higher education, although many teachers are unaware of its scope. The purpose of the study is to evaluate students’ view of AI in classroom engagement evaluation in higher education. A total of 385 students (217 female and 168 male) responded to the online survey. 39.06% agree that AI will have positive influence in education and 49.48 % agree that AI will influence learning. Some respondents believed that AI can be used to track student progress (35.79%), improve teacher-student interactions (47.78%) and measure classroom engagement (55.21%). We conclude that although artificial intelligence is a reality, its application in higher education has not been fully consolidated and evaluated to utilize its benefits.
