This study aims to investigate the effects of using webQuests in teaching and learning English at High Schools especially in Bac Lieu High School in a small town in the South of Vietnam. There are four teachers and seventy-eight grade 11 students participating in this research. The data that were collected from the observation sheets, the questionnaire, and the investigation of Bac Lieu environments and high school syllabus advocated that grade 11 students and teachers has positive attitude towards the application of webQuests although using webQuests in teaching and learning English has the strengths as well as the challenges. WebQuests challenge students’ intellectual and academic ability rather than their simple searching skill. The finding shows that the innovative implement of WebQuests with a suitable performance based assessment has given students chances to advance their motivation and performance (March, 1998), develop their language skills as well as their ability to apply their inter-subjects, increase their collaborative and critical thinking skills (Perkins & McKnight, 2005).
