Abstract

This study deals with the development of electronic textbook for 5th grade social study and science and the use of them in classroom in South Korea. Each electronic textbook was used with 3 classes for 8 hours during 3 weeks. A students' attitude test, questionnaire, and interviews were conducted to collect the data. The goal of this research was to provide rich information to understand the use of newly developed electronic textbooks in an elementary school in order 1) to design better electronic textbooks that can be used in a real situation and 2) to design better learning environments in which electronic textbooks will be used. Initial findings show that each textbook has potential to be used in the classroom.
