Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to develop and evaluate a web-based soccer skills education application using 3D animations and a video clip. This image-based training application was designed for users at junior high school-age and under. The animation offers views from multiple playing angles, including that of the player with the ball. Imagery from a player fs perspective can make a learner feel as though they are on a pitch and help illustrate what real players see on a field. Our application currently illustrates two training situations: an offense player in front of a goalmouth and a defense player receiving a ball played from the side of the field. The application was evaluated by leading coaches and was well received.
