Abstract

Radiology for Students: Beyond a Textbook is a tutorial series of educational material in Radiology detailing 16 learning units on CD-Rom or DVD that incorporate simultaneous learning from visual combined with auditory input. The development of the tutorial series is very much based within a grounded research approach and evolved from over 20 years experience in teaching and observing students learn the fundamentals of diagnostic medical imaging. Despite very little input from an Institutional Technology Centre or a preset rigid courseware design paradigm, the software adheres to sound design models that enhance pedagogy, including the use of multiple learning styles and learning by objective in the form of learning units. It also has extensive utility to be incorporated into large and small group learning, problem based learning environments and allows educators to build further components such as study guides for specific course needs.
