Abstract

There is increasing recognition that the evolution of eLearning systems and educational technology tools must provide new and varied forms of collaboration. Open-source software offers one route to explore for such choices. .LRN is an open-source software for supporting learning and research communities in higher education, K-12, and executive education. Originally developed at MIT, its capabilities span several major functional categories (portal, course management, learning management, content management, online communities), while providing a proven, enterprise-class technical architecture.
