
Intrapersonal Intelligence, Critical-thinking Ability, and Preservice Teachers' Behavioral Change in a Computer Simulation

Abstract
Teachers typically infuse their instruction with their own abilities, which greatly influences their use of teacher behaviors. Understanding preservice teachers' abilities pertaining to their professional development and the manner in which they are related to positive changes in teacher behaviors provides valuable information for effective teacher training. This study investigated the relationships between preservice teachers' critical-thinking ability, intrapersonal intelligence and their behavioral change in computer-simulated training. One hundred and seventy-eight preservice teachers participated in this study and a computer simulation program was employed to test preservice teachers' interactive teaching experience. The findings suggest both enhanced critical-thinking ability and intrapersonal intelligence contribute to preservice teachers' improvements in teaching behaviors with regard to the instruction of higher order thinking in computer-simulated teaching.
