Abstract
Search engines, e-commerce and media websites as well as advertisers often serve content customized to the location of the user This article uses snapshots from national Google domains and search queries in different languages to portray attitudes towards mobile technologies, specifically screen time for young children In our research we aimed at contrasting nationally grounded cultural views of mobile devices in three different countries: France, Germany and the United States We uncovered stark differences in screen time recommendations, inconsistent data on actual screen time exposure in all three countries, considerable variance in the Wikipedia entries, and a national twist in the media coverage of mobile technologies
