Abstract

This paper describes the development of web-based professional development workshops for K-12 teachers by the Regional Educational Technology Assistance (RETA) Program [http://reta.nmsu.edu]. Several of the online workshops are designed with a combination of individual and collaborative learning experiences utilizing WebCT while others involve a blended technologies approach to interactive group learning utilizing WebCT and Centra. To design, develop, and implement effective online workshops, a cadre of RETA instructors assisted in the beta testing of an initial online workshop for facilitating online teaching and learning. This process provided them with the necessary experience to facilitate future online sessions and gave us valuable feedback to improve the workshop.
