Abstract

Currently, K-12 education should allow students to acquire not only basic and fundamental knowledge and skills but also foster their ability to make decisions, express themselves, and other abilities necessary to solve problems by using acquired knowledge and skills, as well as cultivate an attitude of proactive learning and develop individuality. Although it is effective to collect and use student learning records as student e-portfolios to foster these abilities, most current e-portfolio systems are not designed for K-12 education. Therefore, we propose an e-portfolio framework for collecting and using K-12 student learning records with a tablet device and developed an e-portfolio system based on this framework. Evaluation from a free-description-type questionnaire particularly demonstrated that using our system enabled students to continue their learning with future prospects, reflect on their learning, and enhance their motivation of learning.
